I walk up onstage
Room is filled with chatter
A hundred eyes on me
My palms are sweaty
The lights dim
Spotlight on
The noise fades
Can't swallow the lump in my throat
The administrator nods
I take a breath
First line
I open my mouth
Silence
A single chuckle sounds through the audience
More follow
Tears well in my eyes
Another breath
Finally sound comes
Voice crack
Here we go again
I begin the speech
My hands are shaking
Shift from foot to foot
Voice gets quieter and quieter
People lose interest fast
Whispers drift easily to my ears
What's wrong with her?
Not even able to string a sentence together
Tears are ready t

An Ode to Ice Cream
Oh ice cream
Why art thou so grand?
Your wonderful chocolaty flavour is heaven in my mouth
You leave me in orgasmic rapture with each bite
Oh ice cream
Your smoothness
Your sweetness
It is nothing short of the greatest thing in the universe
Oh ice cream
How I long for you each moment that we are apart
You, alone in the freezer
And I, without your taste
Oh ice cream
Please do not tell me it is so
Why are thou not in your usual spot?
Have you deserted my taste buds in favour of another's?
I have never wished anything more than to be with you
Your absence will forever be a hole in my heart
Oh ice cream
Do not fret for my sake
The crowd quiets
Watch the curtains raise
Wait on the side
The music starts
In out
In out
The people onstage move
Voices echo across the room
Dancing, spinning and jumping
Feel the vibrations through the floor
In out
In out
The actors freeze
See the lights dim
A high C
That's your cue
In out
In out
One step forward
Hundreds of eyes on you
Throat tightens
Chest moves
In out
In out
Look up and smile
Open your mouth
Relax
And breath
In out
In out
Laughing at you, they call
Those names you know you are
Trying to block them out
But its no use
Looking at the page
Face flushing with shame
The notes they wrote
You can't ignore
Walking home alone
Tears running down your cheeks
Body hurting from their touch
Bruises will start to show
Sitting a the table
Parents screaming their hate
Dissapointment in you
They don't even try to hide it
Sobbing in your bed
You know it was all true
Failures you can't erase
Continue to pile up
The Choices we Make by wierdmonkeyperson, literature
Literature
The Choices we Make
Our lives are decided
Not by a fate set down when we are born
Nor by a being who governs us all
They are not controlled by those around us
Or those who are no longer
We are not driven to reach one goal
Not forced to fight one man
We do not have to serve a god
Our lives are not decided
They happen as life comes
And as life leaves
Our lives are decided
By the choices we make

Literature
In the Dusty Corner
I sit in a corner
Covered in webs and dust
Long forgotten by my owner
My moving parts stop and rust
My hands are frozen in place
The numbers are no longer there to see
All the beautiful designs are gone
And no one will know they were there but me
Eyes once would seek my knowledge
Unable to continue without it each day
Countless keepers housed me proudly
All of whom have died and withered away
Now my talent has dissapeared
Replaced by those of modern times
My single tone has become a joke
Instead there are hundreds of chimes
So now I sit in a corner
Of a garage filled with old things
I wait for someone to rewind me
And liste
To you I call
Trying to find myself
Only you truly know me
And can bring me back
Help me be alive
Escape this empty void
I need to wake up from this nightmare
My life is not a dream
Force my eyes open
Make me see the truth
Remove the tape from my mouth
And listen to me scream
Save me from drowning
Push my heart to beat
Breath life into me
And help me stand
Open my soul
Make me speak
Pull my secrets out
Then hold me as I cry
Lift me from the wreckage
Clean my wounds
Nurse me back to health
And take me home
Give me purpose
Teach me love
Drag away the darkness
Save me
Give me back my love
Let us be together once again
Let us enjoy our gift from above
Return my heart
I need her to survive
We will never part
Come back to me
I cannot breath without you
Come back to me
Return my happiness
My underserving possession
She belongs to one who deserves less
Let me hold her once more
I need her so much
It is she who I live for
Come back to me
My heart will stop beating
Come back to me
Come back to me
You are my life
Come back to me
Come back to me
